Privacy policy

RentalTide is operated by RentalTide Inc.. RentalTide Inc. is responsible for the personal information described here. You do not need an account to use RentalTide, and we do not offer one.

What you type into the concierge or the search box is sent to our AI providers to produce an answer: Anthropic for the concierge and for understanding search queries, and OpenAI to turn search queries into embeddings for matching.

Concierge conversations are stored with a random session identifier and a salted hash of your IP address (not the IP address itself). We use them to improve answers and to prevent abuse, and keep them for as long as needed for these purposes. Please do not type sensitive personal information into the concierge.

When you click through to book, we record which listing you chose, the page you were on and, if you have used the concierge in that browser tab, its session identifier. We use this to attribute commissions. We do not record your IP address with it.

Your IP address is used briefly to limit request rates and to protect the site against abuse. Our hosting provider, Amazon Web Services (including CloudFront), keeps standard request logs, which include IP addresses.

We ask for your location only if you tap the "near me" button. Your browser uses it to pick the nearest place we cover and then opens that page. Your coordinates are not sent to our servers and are not stored.

Some parts of the site load content from other companies, which then receive your IP address and set their own cookies under their own policies:

• Maps: the map loads its code from unpkg.com and map tiles from OpenStreetMap servers (privacy policy), only when a map scrolls into view.
• FareHarbor: the availability calendar and the booking window on FareHarbor listings (privacy policy).
• RentalTide: the booking window on listings marked "Book instantly" (privacy policy).
• Viator: Viator listings open viator.com in a new tab (viator.com).

Our fonts and listing photos are served from our own servers, so loading them does not contact Google or the photo hosts.

We set no advertising or analytics cookies. See the cookie policy for the one item we store in your browser.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We honour Global Privacy Control signals, although there is currently no tracking on the site to opt out of.

Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, and you can complain to a privacy regulator. These rights come from, among others, Canada's PIPEDA, Quebec's Law 25, the GDPR and UK GDPR (for visitors in the EU and UK), and the California CCPA/CPRA. Because we do not run accounts, tell us your concierge session details or the approximate time of your visit so we can find the records. For privacy requests, email support@rentaltide.com.

RentalTide is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

We will update this policy when what we collect changes. The date at the top shows the last change.
